What it is

What is AutoCallDesk?

AutoCallDesk is an AI customer desk: software that runs the customer-facing side of a business with a workforce of AI agents. It answers calls and messages, captures enquiries, confirms orders, books appointments, follows up, collects feedback, and hands anything that needs judgement to a named person on your team. It is not a chatbot bolted onto a website — it holds the record of every customer, every job and every conversation, and the AI works inside that record rather than beside it.

What can the AI actually handle?

AutoCallDesk handles answering incoming calls, answering customer questions from your own approved information, capturing enquiries, taking and confirming orders, booking and rescheduling appointments, taking service requests, recording complaints, sending reminders and follow-ups, calling customers back, and collecting feedback. You choose which of those it handles — each one is switched on individually, and anything you leave off is never attempted.

Can it answer customer calls?

Yes. AutoCallDesk answers calls to your existing business number, and you decide when: every call, only the ones nobody picks up, only outside your opening hours, or only when the line is busy. It recognises a customer who has called before, answers what it can from your business information, records what they wanted, and puts a person on the line when the conversation needs one.

Can the AI confirm orders?

Yes. AutoCallDesk reads an order back to the customer, captures any correction, and records what they agreed to before the order is fulfilled. Nothing is sent to a customer until somebody at your end approves it, and what they agree to is frozen at the moment it is put to them.

Can it hand work to a human?

Yes, and this is a core part of the product rather than a fallback. AutoCallDesk chooses who should take over using your own rules — skills, availability, area, workload, priority — and passes the whole conversation across, so the customer never repeats themselves. If nobody is available, the request does not evaporate: it becomes a call-back or a task with an owner, so every path ends with a person holding something or a customer holding a commitment.

How does the AI learn my business?

You give it Company knowledge: what you do, your services and prices, your policies, your locations, your opening hours, and the questions customers actually ask. AutoCallDesk answers from that approved information rather than from general world knowledge, and when a question is not covered it says so plainly and fetches a person instead of guessing. You can see and change everything it knows, and changes take effect on the next conversation.

Can I choose which jobs the AI handles?

Yes. Every job is switched on individually during AI Setup, and you can change your mind at any time. A job you have not switched on is not offered to the AI at all — it is not something the AI attempts and then refuses, which means it cannot be talked into it. Switching a job off later stops it happening from that moment and leaves the history intact.

Do I need technical knowledge to set it up?

No. Setting up AutoCallDesk is a series of business questions — what you do, what you want help with, when you are open, who handles what, and who should be fetched when the AI cannot continue. There is no prompt to write, no workflow to draw and no code to deploy. The AI agents are generated from your answers rather than authored by you.

How much does AutoCallDesk cost?

Calls cost ₹6 a minute with AutoCallDesk, billed by the minute and rounded up, and that single rate covers the phone line, understanding what the caller said, the AI working out the answer, and the voice that replies — it is one charge rather than four. WhatsApp messages you send are priced by kind, whether a person wrote them or the AI did: ₹0.25 for a reply to a customer who wrote in the last 24 hours, ₹0.50 for an update such as a confirmation, reminder or verification code, and ₹1.25 for a promotion. Messages customers send you cost nothing. A phone number issued by AutoCallDesk is ₹299 a month; forwarding your existing number costs nothing. There is no subscription, no charge per person on your team, no minimum, and no bundle of included minutes to use up or lose. Rates for SMS, email and stored recordings are still being set and are not published yet.

Do I pay for jobs I have not switched on?

No. A job you have not activated in AutoCallDesk is not configured and not running, so it has no billable categories and cannot charge you for anything. Switching a job off stops its usage from that moment rather than at the end of a billing period, and the jobs you never turn on cost nothing for as long as you leave them off.

Does it work for my industry?

AutoCallDesk has no industry-specific version, and that is deliberate. It is configured around how your business actually works — what you sell, how customers reach you, who does what, and when a person is needed — rather than around a template for a line of work. A business the platform has never seen before is set up the same way as one it has: by answering questions, not by anyone writing code for it.

What is an AI employee?

An AI employee is software that does customer-facing jobs a business would otherwise give to a person: answering the phone, replying to messages, confirming orders, following up, and fetching a colleague when something needs judgement. In AutoCallDesk it is one AI employee rather than a set of separate bots, and the business chooses which jobs it does — a job that is not switched on is never attempted.

Can I use only voice?

Yes. Voice is one job among several and it works on its own: a connected number, your opening hours, and who to fetch when the AI should not continue. Nothing else has to be switched on, and anything you leave off is not configured, not billed, and never offered to the AI.

Can I use only WhatsApp?

Yes. Messaging works without voice: connect a WhatsApp Business account and the AI sends the confirmations, reminders and follow-ups you have switched on, with replies filed against the customer. Today the AI sends on WhatsApp and records what comes back — it does not hold a free-form conversation there on its own, and there is no shared team inbox yet.

Will customers be called automatically?

No. Nothing reaches a customer until somebody at your business approves it. Importing a spreadsheet, connecting a shop and receiving an order webhook all put orders in one place and none of them contacts anybody. There is no setting that removes the approval step, because a mistyped export would otherwise become twelve hundred phone calls and there is no undo for a phone call.

What happens when the AI does not know an answer?

It says so, and fetches a person. AutoCallDesk answers from the information a business has approved rather than from general world knowledge, so a question outside that produces “I do not have that on file” and a handover rather than a guess. The unanswered question is recorded against the customer, so you can add it to your Company knowledge and it is answered next time.

Do I have to switch everything on at once?

No, and most businesses should not. Each job is switched on individually and can be switched off again, which stops it from that moment and leaves the history intact. Starting with one job is a genuine starting point rather than a trial version: a job that is off is not configured, not billed, not shown in your dashboard, and not offered to the AI at all.

Answering the phone

What languages can the AI speak?

AutoCallDesk chooses the language from what the customer told you they prefer, then from what they are actually speaking, then from your business default — so a customer who switches language mid-call is followed rather than corrected. Which languages are available to you depends on the speech providers configured for your account; the platform never assumes English.

Can I listen to what the AI said on a call?

Yes. Every call in AutoCallDesk leaves a record — what happened, who or what handled it, what the customer wanted, what the AI did, and what the next action is — alongside the transcript. Call recording is switched on per business rather than assumed, so you decide whether audio is kept at all.

What is an AI receptionist?

An AI receptionist answers a business’s incoming calls, works out who is calling and what they want, answers what it can from the business’s own information, and puts a person on the line when it should. AutoCallDesk does this on your existing number, and you decide when it answers: every call, only the ones nobody picks up, only outside opening hours, or only when the line is busy.

Can I choose the AI’s voice?

Yes. You choose the voice and the languages it answers in on one screen, together, because they are one decision in practice — a business adding a language needs to know whether the voice it chose can speak it. What actually spoke on each call is recorded, so a substitution is visible rather than silent.

Messages

Does the AI reply to WhatsApp messages on its own?

Not today. AutoCallDesk sends on WhatsApp — order confirmations, reminders, follow-ups, feedback requests, and approval requests to your team — and messages customers send back are received and recorded on their timeline alongside their calls. The AI does not compose a free-form reply to an inbound message by itself, and the product says so on its own Messages screen rather than shipping half an inbox.

Orders and confirmation

Can I connect Shopify?

Yes. Connecting Shopify brings your orders and the customers who placed them into AutoCallDesk, so an order becomes something the AI can talk about by number — read back, corrected, and confirmed. Connect it from Integrations; no development work is involved, and an order arriving from a shop still waits for your approval before anybody is contacted.

Can I approve calls before they happen?

Yes, and it is the only way calls happen. A screen shows what is ready to be called, what needs a look because something is missing, and what cannot be called at all and why — and the check behind that screen is the same one the call itself faces, so it cannot promise something the dialler then refuses. Customers are only contacted inside the hours you set, and a customer’s own preference outranks your default.

Setting it up

How long does setup take?

A first agent can be answering questions within an afternoon. AI Setup asks what you want the AI to handle, then lists only the things that choice actually requires — your hours if you want bookings, your people if you want work assigned, a connected number if you want calls answered. Each step says why it is needed and which screen fixes it, and nothing goes live until you publish it.

Connecting things

Are the credentials I connect protected?

AutoCallDesk stores credential references rather than credential values, and no screen in the product renders a secret because no screen has one to render. Provider callbacks are refused unless they can prove where they came from, over the exact bytes that arrived, and refused callbacks are visible to you rather than failing silently. No security certification is claimed — none has been undertaken.

What it costs

Is there a monthly fee or a per-user charge?

No subscription and no per-user charge. AutoCallDesk has no seat charge and no minimum spend — you top up a balance and calls and messages draw against it as they happen. The one monthly charge is optional: a phone number issued by AutoCallDesk costs ₹299 a month, while forwarding your existing business number costs nothing. Adding the people at your business who need to see your customers and orders costs nothing at all.

What happens when my balance runs out?

AutoCallDesk warns you before it happens: you set the balance you want to hear about, and the platform tells you rather than going quiet mid-week. If it does run low, answering degrades before it stops — free channels are used ahead of paid ones and a notification that has to reach somebody still reaches them, so a low balance does not mean your phone simply stops being answered.

How does AI usage work?

AutoCallDesk runs on a prepaid Wallet. You top it up, and usage — calls, messages, and the AI work behind them — draws against the balance as it happens, with every charge itemised against the conversation that caused it. You set a low-balance threshold and are warned before it runs out. There is no metered surprise at the end of a month because nothing is billed in arrears.

Staying in control

What happens if the AI gets something wrong?

AutoCallDesk is built so the most damaging mistakes are not available to it. Anything you have classed as needing a person is never attempted by the AI, actions that commit you — confirming a booking, confirming an order — can require a recorded confirmation first, and a set of actions is permanently off-limits to the AI surface regardless of configuration. Everything the AI did is recorded against the customer, so a mistake is visible and correctable rather than invisible.

Is my business data kept separate from other businesses?

Yes. Every record in AutoCallDesk belongs to exactly one business and carries that ownership at the database level, enforced by the database itself rather than only by application code. Access is resolved from who you are signed in as, never from anything a browser sends. Cross-business access is tested as a matrix over every kind of record, so an untested one fails the build rather than shipping.

Also asked

Everything else

Can it book appointments?

Yes. AutoCallDesk works out when you are genuinely free from your opening hours, your people, how long each service takes, and what is already booked — then holds, confirms, moves or cancels a time. Double-booking is prevented by the database itself, not by the AI being careful, so two people cannot take the same slot even if they ask at the same moment.

Give your business an AI employee.

Start with one job. Add more when you need them. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Or talk to a person first.
